We get a lot of emails here in the Stoned Media Group office, and we try to answer them all.  Every once in a while, though, we get an email that we think warrants addressing publicly, as it is a really good question we think our readers would be interested in.  So, when we got this email from Mark, we thought you guys might like to hear what he had to say.  He wrote:

Hello Stoned Girls,

I understand there is a need for indica dominant strains in the legal marijuana market because of quick production turnaround.  However, I happen to specialize in the art of sativas.  Just like there will always be a market for high end sports cars, I believe that there will always be people interested in the harder-to-procure sativa dominant strains.  Currently, I do not live in a state with legal medical or recreational marijuana, but am considering a move.  Could you recommend a dispensary that would appreciate the finest sativa production on the market?  Thank you for your time!

Excellent question, Mark.  And congratulations on mastering the art of not only growing, but also growing sativas!  We wrote back:

Hey Mark,

As far as dispensaries  are concerned, I think it would depend on what state you are interested in moving to.  This industry is still very heavily regulated even in the states where marijuana is recreationally legal, and there would be a lot of laws that both you and your purchaser would have to adhere to.

My recommendation is to make a list of states you think would make a good home for you, and then do a lot of in depth research on the specific growing and purchasing laws there.  Once you are informed, your decision on if and where to move will be a lot easier.

Also, try getting in touch with people who work in grows and dispensaries in those states.  They will be able to provide you with a lot of insight on the best route to take.  Unfortunately, just like you I live in a state where marijuana is still illegal.  While I like to think I am fairly informed on the legality of marijuana throughout the country, I am certainly no expert on a state-by-state basis.

I would be interested to hear you process and decisions!  I wish you the best of luck!  This is a great industry to be in, so don’t give up on your dream.
