We at Stoned Girls would like to wish the state of Colorado a very Happy Anniversary! That’s right, friends – it has been exactly two years since Colorado made recreational marijuana legal for adults 21 and up. It is hard to believe it has been that long, considering the fight for legalization remains alive and well in most states, with a lot of them still having a long way to go!
So today, we salute all of our weed-loving friends in Colorado, who voted yes to Amendment 64, and most importantly, we salute you, Gov. John Hickenlooper, for formalizing the amendment as part of the state constitution — ultimately making the first public declaration that the state government wouldn’t try to block marijuana legalization or ask the feds to intervene.
Of course, the state’s laws are still a little too strict for a lot of potheads out there, namely Seth Rogen, “the Stoner King of Hollywood.” The actor fought hard to make the Denver screening of “The Interview” 420-friendly; however, the city refused and threatened to shut the event down if there was smoking. So, Rogen went with the second-best option, throwing a tequila party instead.
Anyway, enjoy the rest of the day, Colorado! We love you!
