If you’re on the east coast (or just really like to travel), we strongly suggest checking out a badass rally being held at the Nation’s capital. The Reschedule 4/20 event will take place across the street from the White House tomorrow afternoon, and will feature marijuana activists lighting up in protest of marijuana still being considered a Schedule 1 drug. In fact, that is the basis for the name of the event.
The D.C. Cannabis Campaign is putting on the event, and are advertising that “civil disobedience: mass cannabis consumption” will begin promptly at 4:20. A poster for the event reads, “Join us in demanding President Obama use his authority to stop the marijuana arrests, pardon offenders, give patients access to their medicine, and reschedule cannabis.”
Roughly 400 people have RSVP’d on Facebook alone, and the event is promising to be the place to be this weekend if you’re interested in cannabis reform.
For all of you who are wondering if it is legal to publicly smoke weed in front of the White House, it is not. However, the D.C. Cannabis Campaign is looking toward edibles to solve this problem.
According to the DCMJ’s website, “Do you think the National Park Service will go after your brownies, gummies, rice crispy treats, or cookies? Doubtful. [W]e encourage people who do not want to smoke or vape their cannabis to eat it as a form of protest. So in the misquoted words of Marie Antoinette, LET THEM EAT CAKE!”
