South Carolina

It seems like every time you turn around, another state is legalizing recreational marijuana. While South Carolina has permitted the use of marijuana derivatives for patients with seizure disorders, it is still recognized as an illegal drug. Possession of 1 ounce or less is a misdemeanor by a maximum sentence of 30 days of jail time and a fine of $100-$200. When manufacturing and distributing more than 10 pounds of marijuana, the offense is known as "trafficking in marijuana" in which the penalties will include a fine up to $10,000 and up to 10 years in prison.
